gravity is an infinite force, it is all around us, every day, no matter how deep into space we reach... the reason that the Shuttle astronauts are weightless in orbit is not because of the absence of gravity, it is because they are free falling down towards earth, but they are traveling forward fast enough that it keeps them in orbit... i have also heard that 9/10ths the way to the moon from earth is the point between the two where the forces of gravity are exactly equal. you are being pulled 1 direction from the earth, and the other direction from the moon at the same force.

If you are very far away from all massive bodies (planets and stars) then there is very little gravitational forces acting on you, and that's what it means to be weightless. Your weight is the force of gravity pulling on you in proportion to your mass. But if there is no (or very little) pull, then there is no weight.

Gravity is everywhere in space, wherever you are in in some gravity well and you you free falling, under this condition you are weightless.

Gravity is an infinite force. However, the strength of it is drastically reduced when you are as far from a celestial body as you are talking about. You would effectively be weightless as far as you are concerned, but understand that celestial gravity, the natural expansion of the universe, and dark matter are all forces that would be acting on your body.

Only when u are in orbit . The gravity around a black hole allows for most solar systems to orbit it. Going around in orbit allows the solar systems to stay in that orbit for million's of years.

It's because there isn't any gravity. No gravity = no weight.
