If the item is far off from it's expiry date, and doesn't look cheap or tacky. It's a must for it to also look presentable enough, and don't forget to remove the price tags and personal notes (if there are any on it from the person who gave it to you).

yes, everything my mother in law has ever bought me ends up in the local charity shop or school fete. after 17 years you would think she would have realised that I don't want or need any more crappy ornaments or horrid passport holders!
