Online, I buy a lot from eBay and half.com. Amazon is good too. Locally, I always like to check out the Goodwill store....they have hundred of paperbacks (in my town they are 69 cents each, no tax) and nice hardbacks (in my town they are 1.19 each, no tax). They usually have pretty current titles too, along with some classics....I got a beaitful, gilted hardback of Jane Eyre there, and I love it!

Sometimes Overstock.com, they don't always have as big a selection, but if they have what you're looking for, the shipping is dirt cheap.
