I'm trying to download firefox and i keep getting this message.....Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.

* Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.

* Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working.

Please help....i have no idea what this means

Click on Tools, and then Options and Advanced and click the Network tab and then the Settings button where it says Configure how Firefox connects to the Internet.

There are 3 options:

Direct Connection to the internet.

Auto-detect proxy settings for this network and

Manual proxy configuration.

You probably have a proxy server set up under manual proxy configuration. Try selecting the direct connection to the internet option and see if that helps.

Go to the Options Panel -> General -> Connection parameters and select Direct connection to the internet to remove the proxy settings. or go to a diffrent site to download firefox iv never gotten that error when downloading or installing firefox but then again i dont use proxies

Are you downloading through a network server? You should not get this sort of message on a home broadband or dial up modem connection. Otherwise it may be the way you have set up your firewalls and you may need to drop them for a short time.

if you are using firefox Tools, Options, Advanced, Network, Settings, Choose Direct Connection. See if that helps.

Well you need to find out what the proxy settings of your network are.

It may mean there is a conflict between your internet provider and firefox. Check the ISP address.

Are you on your own computer, or is it a school / work one? If it's not yours, then you can't download it.
