I have a brand new computer that I've only had for 2 months now, it has Vista installed. The disc drive worked up untill a couple days ago for everything. and now, everytime I put in a CD, DVD or game, it dosent play it. and it tells me that there is no disc installed. how do I fix this problem?

You can open the drive and put stuff in, that means that it has power, you can't read data from the drive so that means that the cables for data aren't connected. You need to open up you computer and look for the back of the disc drive, then you need to check if the cable is securely attached there, then you need to check that the cable is securely attached to the motherboard.

THERE SHOULD BE TWO CABLES COMING OUT OF THE BACK OF THE DISC DRIVE

A 2 month old computer should be under warranty so just bring it back, tell them that the drive isn't working and they'll fix it (probably just put a new one in).

I would try uninstalling it through the device manager. Go to the settings/control panel/system/hardware. Use the device manager to remove the device. Restart your computer. If that doesn't work take it back to the place you bought it and have a new one put in. Hope that helps.

As it a new computer, it should be under warranty, get it replaced. From http://fixit.in
