You need to think in larger terms. The Earth is not isolated in the Universe, it constantly receives energy from the Sun and radiates energy into space. There are many factors that effect the temp. of the Earth. If it receives more energy than it radiates the temp. goes up. Not the only factors though. Remember some of that energy is also stored in chemical bonds, plants making sugars etc. from photosynthesis.

The laws of thermodynamics apply to closed systems. Earth isn't; it accepts energy from the sun, and radiates energy into space. The amount received from the sun is related to the albedo -- the reflectivity of the earth. The amount radiated is also related to the albedo, times the fourth power of the earth's temperature. But the computations are much more complex than this suggests, as both albedo and temperature vary from point to point.

May be earth is undergoing temporary phase of catching fever. Are you physics student?. Energy remains constant. So is anybody stopping energy to convert from one form to another? Increase in temperature of earth is just an indication used by people to show greenhouse effects on our climate. You think may be gravitational energy is getting depleted.

* Due to Greenhouse effect (smog / Pollution blanketing the Earth.

* Put a blanket over yourself & wallah temperature rises!!

* Energy isn't created just conserved due to blanket insulating effect......
