The same sex relationship is one of the issue here in the country. Why most people misunderstood this kind of relationship? They can't hardly accept that not all guys ang gals want to be in opposite sex, some people wanted the love of the same sex mates. They hate GAY's, LESBIAN's and other related personality. Why they can't just give regard to them? What is the reason why they hate homosexualy?

they 'hate' what they do not understand... and someday they may get the picture, or say ;ahhh- who the heck cares- and get over it.. so be patient, and dont hate back- they are probably not as smart as you.

Because it is not "normal". America has a long history of absolute hatred of those who do not conform. In the 1840s a man grew a beard in Massachusetts after amerca had been beardless for 200 years. He was attacked by a mob and put in prison. In 1881 the New York Times published a damning article about women using slang - including one terrible example who dared say "what a cunning hat". Add that to years of sexual repression and even denial (women did not have any acceptable words to describe themselves below the waist other than ankles, and between it and the head was simply the stomach.) and you get your formula.

I don't think gays are misunderstood, everyone understands that they want sex with other guys. Many hate homosexuals because tehy see it as wrong morally for either the fact that they were raised with morals that have them believe that or because they are religious.

Most homophobes base their homophobia on religion, saying it is against the will of God. Some people refuse to accept that homosexuality is not a disease nor is it a "learned behavior".

They do this because some people are just never going to change, and others fear things they do not understand, and out of fear comes anger and hatred.

why are some people xenophobes?

No one gives it a thought in Germany. At least not in Berlin, which has a huge gay population. Gay men and women can legally marry too anywhere in the country.
Piss off, John. You a linguistics professor or a purist? You don't have to like it. It just IS.

I just wish people would stop using GAY to describe homosexuals ... The word GAY means happy / cheerful .... BUT .. as long as these people do no harm to others (corrupting youngsters for example) then why not .. 'each to their own'

Like the first answerer said, a lot of homophobia (and hate in general) is religion based.

It's pretty much accepted here in the UK. Other countries just need to catch up.
