The fact of the matter is communism believes in a just and equal society, BUT, we all know that this is impossible considering human nature. Read Orwell's Animal farm and you'll understand why communism doesn't work. Whatever kind of preachy socialistic term you use to try to rectify the system it still won't remove the fact that it is a system that failed.

First, though it promotes equality, it necessitates a bloody revolution from the proletariat (workers) to eliminate the bourgeoisie completely.

Then, a new society is established and maintained through the extremely violent suppresion of human rights (such as the right to free press, the right to private ownership, the right to religion and so forth)

As the "classless" society ages, a new upper class is formed: The leaders of government and members of the communist party. As Orwell put it in Animal Farm: "All animals are equal but some are more equal than others."

Thus the system fails because its main objective and purpose is defeated by its own doing, and as seen in the U.S.S.R and the Iron curtain countries, it eventually self-destructs.

Even China turned to capitalism after years of living under Mao's destructive inward looking rule, now they have a massive growth rate.

Cuba, (who "le che", mind you, you can't combine french 'Les" with the spanish name "Che") is grasping at straws trying to keep their society intact (is it real equality if only one man rules the country?)...

All in all, it's a system that is not really destined to work, because it can never be purely achieved and the closest wqe can get to a truly equal society is a pure functioning democracy (like that in Ancient Greece), it is (as Lincoln put it) a government of the people, by the people and for the people. What can be better than that?

It is one of the most evil political systems ever invented by man
The biggest problem with it is that the theory is crazy and the affictionados kill anyone who does not fit to the theory- look up Stalin, Mao, Khmer Rouge. Adolf Hitler's Nazism was just a variation on the communist theme

Most people who call themselves communists are simply misguided. But the few at the top are really extremely evil

Communism and Socialism are the perfect forms of government, for the simple minded. With that type of government, you don't need to think, you just do what you're told, kind of like religion. That is appealing to some people, here in the US we call them Democrats.
I suggest that it is bad because it will prevent people from developing to their full potential and so prevent the greater society from advancing. Hugo Chavez is the perfect example, he gets his power from the poor and uneducated.
Venezuela will be going back to the dark ages now.
