What conditions must this child have experienced to take such a drastic action at 11 years of age?
For months now the focus has been on a single lost girl when there are so many other children suffering on a daily basis that they are contemplating and committing suicide. It is a very sad state that our world is in!

cukko just becasue the child may think like a 25 year old does not make this any better, in fact the fact that she has to think like that and miss her whole childhood is a travesty.
I understand that the cultures and circumstances are different there to here, but as richer Western countries should we all not be doing more to assist these other countries!

Agent 86 - I completely agree with you but this story is not even headlin news.
I do believe there is more we can do to help these poverty stricken areas, this attitude of ignoring it will only make things worse.

Shocking.
Where were her parents at the time. Why didn't they notice her depressed state?
1 in 4 British children live in poverty, yet the Government seems to think it is ok to open the doors to 100's of 1000's of immigrants (with kids) and offer them shelter - We can not look after our own !
It won't be too long before this sort of thing starts happening in the UK.

Salam A six year old girl committed suicide is caused by the negligence of her parents who could not educate her properly. She is still under the responsibility of her parents so her parents will have great sins while the 6 year old girl without sins will enter the heaven Her parents would be brought into the hell and be tortured..You are right that a kid before puberty is not accountable for herself She will be forgiven by Allah insya Allah.

I agree with you entirely....however i think WE are all aware of the plight of other children around the world be it missing children or otherwise...but what do we do?
I'm sorry but some of these countries like the Philippines have got to start taking responsibility for their own people....we have our own level of child issues here in the UK that we have to try and resolve before we can sort everyone else's problems out...and with regards to the McCann case whom i assume you were referring to in your question...well the level of interest is simply because Madeleine is British so we are bound to have a constant interest!
However all these cases are very very sad and i agree "what kind of world ARE we living in"....but i really don't know what the answer is!

Suicide is always a tragedy, especially with children. I am surprised to read the dire poverty in the Philippines for 10% of their population.
In 3rd world countries you never read or hear of children in poverty committing suicide, they die from disease and malnutrition. I wonder if western news on the uptick of teen suicide in America had any influence on her decision.

I agree with Sparklyarhse. Although this awful tragedy didn't happen here, it is doing and we simply cannot afford to support other countries also when we don't take care of our own. There are many children living here in poverty yet, our government sees fit to send out millions in Tax credits over to Poland and others.

its a really terrible world when a 11 yr old feels the need to kill herself...
but we must also understand that all though it is only the other side of the world, its is like a completly diffrent world to ours....they are so overwelmed by poverty it is almost the norm for them to live in sh*t, the 11 yr old we speak about will have had the head of a 25 yr old, has probably been looking after all of her family and working to keep things running smoothly, who's to say she didnt kill herself because she didnt want to be married of? or sold into child slavery?.....
we live in luxury in comparison, yes we have our hard times and get stuck for cash but what the hell is going on over there and in alot of other countrys?????

there are so many children suffering it is heart breaking, something needs to be done to help these children so that they don't reach the stage where they feel that the only way out of their situation is to end their own lifes. Its so very sad.

its a very sad story, this poor girl just asked 100 pesos needed for a school project but the father who was out of job at that time was not able to provide her ...at the exchange rate right now that 100 pesos is equivalent to $2.35....i could have skipped one morning coffee and save her life....

That is an awful story, yes there does tend to be too much focus on high profile cases and people seem to forget that their are children in awful situations the world over suffering, abuse, neglect, poverty, etc.

This is a far more significant story than the McCann story. But will this tragic death get as much media attention?
