Time zones my Dear! LOL! I am in Alaska! Not the part of Alaska where the sun doesn't rise for the winter & doesn't go down at all in summer though!
I am in Houston, AK. About 10 miles from Wasilla, and 60 or 70 from Anchorage. (which are the two closest cities to us)
Right now sunset is at 4:37pm, sunrise isn't until 8:49am!! And the days are still getting SHORTER! On New Years Eve, the sun will rise at 10:14am, and set at 3:51pm, giving us about 5 hours and 23 minutes of day!
The further north you go the less day light you get! In the summers we get DUSK, but no real darkness! It is so wonderful in the summer time! I have ALWAYS wanted to travel to Australia.. .. .. and when the dark of winter is upon us, I still dream of it!
*sighing*
Right now it is 10:21pm. About 2.5 hours past my bed time! 5:00 comes pretty early in the morning!! LOL!!

With the time change the sun goes down early now in the USA (5:20 p.m. today). I was up until about 3:30a.m., but I got to sleep sometime. lol

I am reading this at 8 a.m. and three hours ago it was too early to read...my eyes just won't focus unless insomnia is riding my butt
