The following is taken from an Indian newspaper. It says of the British media (and so is a reflection of the people who read it).......

"...wild, unsubstantiated, and inaccurate reports guaranteed to hinder any investigation... McCann bashing... treated a middle class family of doctors and their unfortunate daughter... to the same kind of ghoulish voyeurism it reserves for its hard-bitten politicians and celebrities."

"It's time some responsible element in the British media establishment stood up and said: "We've done enough damage, we really can't find her, so let's stop the circus, shut up, and leave it to experts." And pray that the child can someday get to know the history she's making."

So, anti-McCanns, will you follow this good advice?

Or will you continue to poison the reputation of British people in the eyes of the world?

The McCanns approached the media to help find a missing child.

Why people have a problem with that is beyond me.

I'm guessing that if I took a walk around your soul it would be very dark and unwelcoming.

I must say I do not really care what the Indian press say or think. Their country has castes including undesirables. Far worse class distinction than this country. They have large areas of poverty. I used to work in a firm and one of the partners in that firm was an Indian. He told me that India is one of the most corrupt countries in the world. His family owns land in India and when he went back he was treated as royalty because of this. However when he came to leave officials at the airport attempted to take what money he had off him before he was allowed to leave. So who are they to dictate to us. Are the comments so anti British press because the "suspects" are middle class and doctors? Would the Indian press be so scathing if the parent or parents were Black and on benefits? Let us not forget that the McCanns created the circus, not the media. They have used and manipulated the system for their own benefit and when it suits them. They cannot have it both ways.

i am neither for or against the McCanns.
I believe they were wrong in leaving their children alone whilst they were dining, but unfortunately they cannot turn back the clock. The fact is a child is missing, an innocent little girl, who has been away from her family for 6 months. Whilst the anti McCanns and the For McCanns are busy baiting eachother, i think you all seem to be forgetting the one person who is suffering or could even be dead is poor little maddy.

I'm lost to your question and the statements that the source you have made. For a start the McCanns created the media circus in the hope that it would help find her daughter. To 'stop the circus' would be to give up publicising the fact that she is missing. Maybe the McCanns are getting bad publicity at the moment but bad publicity still keeps their daughter in the limelight. Isn't that what they want? Or would they rather everyone just stopped thinking about the case?

Isn't this getting a little out of control?! Has it ever occurred to people how many missing or murdered children there are in the world? Have their parents or guardians received all this media attention and a visit with the Pope?! Let's get some perspective, okay?

I own up, yes i believe in the involvement of the McCanns in the disappearance of their daughter and no, i don't give a monkeys about the opinion of an Indian or for that matter any other foreign journalist. You see i think we have enough to worry about with the behaviour of our own home grown variety who have probably alienated a large percentage of their respective readership with, and i include them all, no exceptions, their coverage of the McCann affair.

It's terrible the way they've already been convicted, I'm not saying they're guilty or innocent because all I've read so far is conflicting reports of alleged DNA. Innocent until proven guilty? Not on your nelly

Edit: I am shocked at some of the answers on here!

that quote just about sums up the whole situation. the hatred, accusations, hostility, and abuse of this couple has got so out of hand, its apparant to every normal thinking, impartial person.the british media are making laughing stocks of themselves the world over.the mccann witch -hunt has sunk to new lows in its pursuit of headlines,at the expense of a lost child, and her family.and the people who wallow in the mccanns situation should just for a moment put themselves in their shoes...and hope to God they wouldnt be pilloried if it happened to them.

Don't blame the people, blame the media for misleading the public every day with their conflicting stories. Lets have more responsible journalism.

I would prefer to 'leave it to the experts' and not read reams and reams of interviews from sources and leaks from the McCanns, the PJs, the police, the forensics, giving inaccurate often changing information and briefing against one another.

The press attention has hindered and not helped the police investigations, let's be absolutely clear about that one. Who chased after the press attention in the first place?

for goodness sake, do you really think that helps anyone?? No-one is poisoning the British reputation....people are entitled to their opinion, some believe the McCann parents are innocent, some don't...I for one am not sure but I certainly wouldnt leave a child alone to socialize, that does make THEM sound irresponsible and people agreeing that its ok to do that...it isnt!!! IF YOU HAVE KIDS THEY COME FIRST, THATS MY VIEW.
