I have read varying reports and there is no necessarily set standard, though I have read that anything between $100,000 and $200,000 is upper middle class, but then sometimes anything over $80,000 I have read is upper middle class.

Any insight?

honest/sadly depends on where you live in the country... in new york or california 90k is middle, however if you are in somewhere like iowa, 90k would be upper. (this is no disrespect at all to iowa)....................

Depending on where you live.
If you live in the middle of Montana it's probably upper middle class.

If you live in San Francisco Bay Area, It's bordering on below middle class.
