Don't know of a norm for spelling on the phone. The NATO radio alphabet is
Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Julie, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, X-ray, Yankee and Zulu.
They are unambiguous and they are the only standard I know.
