I think people find me boring, especially those who don't know me well. I'm educated and really nice but can people find me dead boring. Can social skills be learned so that people like you more?

Some people have the easiest time socializing while some find themselves awkward socially. Sometimes, we tend to be too hard on ourselves in terms of social graces and acceptability.

Rather than worry about being boring, why not accept their reality as well as your own, and go with the flow. I have a friend who would rather listen to my chatter than have to speak. Yet, when he does, I am all ears and so enlightened. We have accepted that he doesn't say much but knows alot and I like to chatter so he lets me. He says by listening to my chatter, he is lifted by my enthusiasm on so many topics and it makes him feel good.

Anyway, maybe that's how your friends feel about you and not that you're boring as you may perceive.

Your question seems to be limited to oral communication -
To speak is not an aim - it is the result of what you are - and nobody asks you anything - that you should say to yourself -

Of course, your knowledge and culture are important - I know very high skilled people who have positively nothing to say when they are "in society" and they are boring, as long as they don't meet a colleague - mean somebody working in the same field -

Instead of torturing yourself with your question, why won't you try to join clubs or professional unions, or benevolents - this would be another response -

I personnaly am a "sunday-gardener" - I've been in that club for 15 years and the friendships I developped there are great and deep - which does not mean that I spend my time chatting in my allotment -

If in doubt do it, think about the consequences afterwards. If you decide to rob a bank for fun, don't get caught cause the jailhouse company is boring and traumatic at the same time.
I have the same problem. Nobody ever talks to me, I walk through the world on my own. Better than being hunted like a wild animal.

Be as you are!!! You need not make yourself interesting. Someday you will meet the right person who will find u interesting. Dont force yourself to become what the world wants u to become. Be yourself and will be the best Have Patience

You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everything else
