If you keep telling the same lies to yourself, eventually you'll believe them. If you become really good at it, depending on the lie(s), it could be harmful. Lying on a regular basis accomplishes nothing, and you might want to ask yourself why do you "need" to lie in the first place and if there's a better strategy you can use. If you're trying to be something you're not (if that's the lie you're referring to), then it'll catch up with you--it's better to be disliked for what you are then to be loved for what you're not.

Depends on the person if your fooling yourself never because you will always believe it and it will always be a lie, next if you do not fool yourself then you could never lie and everything you say to the best of your knowledge would be the truth!

I don't tell myself ANY lies, I am just too dumb and end up believing them! OMG, is not even funny! The other day I didn't want to go out because I was too tired, so I pretended that I was sick...and I actually made myself 'feel' sick...so, no I can't do that.

A lot. it depends on if you want to believe the lies, of if you consiously know its a lie the whole time, but still try to convince yourself.
