Is Scotland closer than ever to being its own independent nation, or is the "Scottish Government" simply more like an constituent government in an now looser federation?

Is there ever a possibility Scotland could gain full independence from the United Kingdom and become its own nation?

These questions keep getting asked again & again. There are some people out there with short memories. The signifigance of the Scottish Parliament is that there are a whole load of areas that they now have responsibility from. These are called "devolved" powers. Issues such as Finance, Military etc are still dealt with by the UK government, though there are lots of people in Scotland who want more powers for our country & powers over finance certainly is high on the list.

As for whether Scotland becomes independent or not? Well, that would be forthe Scottish people to decide in a referendum. At the moment the Unionist parties are running scared of that because despite the nonsense printed in newspapers about Scotland's ability to survive outside the UK
they still know the result could be closer than they think & some parties, especially New Labour, stand to lose morethan others if this happens (New Labour will never get back into power in England if this happens).

Scotland must have its independence from UK if it wanted to govern itself.
