WHY in USA in school (PE) do we always play either football or basketball....I walk into the gym almost everyday, i see basketball hoops, some days we go outside, and i see either a lot of grass for football, and basketball hoops for basketball, and if we do play soccer which i love, its either with a volleyball in the gym, or real soccer balls, with trash cans acting as nets...and we never even get to play hockey which is my favorite sport..it seems that if the kids at school dont get to play basketball or football, they will dislike the school and PE teachers, im in 10th grade and go to Palo Verde High School (best in NV) and all weve done for the past 2 years is basketball in the gym, or football outside...what gives? I would love to move to England, im sure they play soccer everyday in PE, or in Canada, im sure they play Hockey everyday in PE, what do you guys think?

It is easy to play football and basketball because all it requires is a ball and some hoops. The teacher doesn't have to spend any time lesson planning. Also, the school doesn't have to spend any money of extra equipment. Pretty lame if you ask me..

thats true i love to play soccer but thats pretty much it football and basketball and sometimes volleyball, i never liked PE because we would always play the some old boring games that i didnt even like, i think the only part i enjoyed was when i got used to running a mile and a half every day, but playing those sports were just boring and dumb, and if we did play soccer they would just make it all stupid, i live in hawaii so ive never played hockey unless i would go to ice palace or something x]

Hmm, we always did tons of stuff in PE. (And I didn't graduate that long ago!)

Choices (yes, we had choices, of course, upperclassmen got first choice, but it was classed as Soph and Freshman and then Junior/Senior so you'd get your first pick soon enough):

badminton
tennis
dance
bowling
skiing
fitness
self defense
soccer
archery
football
softball/baseball
floor hockey
ice skating
track
volleyball
activity unit

They had certain sports at certain times of year and there was a choice between like four of these for each "unit".

(It hasn't even been ten years since I graduated - so this isn't like "way back in the days") Your school must just be lazy or poor

At least they don't make you do gay stuff in PE, like square dancing, like they did when I was in HS so many years ago

I think your PE teacher has no imagination and hates their job.
