I have always left mine on so I do not have to wait for it to power up. yesterday i read where it waste a lot of electricity by leaving it on. So from now on I will be shutting mine down. It also says to unplug it but I am not sure I want to do that until I see if it's OK

i just shut my page down. i leave my computer on. but if it will save electricity i will start shutting it down. i have never thought it used that much and that is what i have always seen others do.

I shut mine down at night so it gets a break, and so it doesn't use up so much electricity. I am not the one that pays the bill here so I want to conserve it the best I can. I have heard that it is actually best to shut it off even when it's not in use during the day and turn it on each time you want to use it. But, then mine would be turned on and off so many times it would be a huge hassle, especially since I am an online student and check the classroom often during the day and until I go to bed.

when i go to bed, or away from the house I shut it down, during the day, if at home it stays on. I also unplug mine if we are due for any type of bad weather, it dosen't hurt it, in fact it will save a lot of money if u have to buy a new one due to a storm!

I place mine in hibernate mode, so it will come online faster. As far as wasting energy, the politicians and elite who scream the loudest about waste are generally the biggest wasters. They should try to get new technology in place so the American public can be informed, and can afford to use this newer technology to save energy. The truth hurts, but it's out there. We voted for these idiots--it's time to demand more.

I heard the same thing. So, I've been turning it off the past few weeks. Unplugging it....i'm not so sure about. =/
