Man Otis has many songs..and they will live on forever for as far as I'm concerned...Look up The Chain Gang, Knock on Wood,Open the Door he has so many...though yes Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay is his big one.

Otis Redding is the best, man! I got chills in the first song "Try a little Tenderness", it was so great. I loved how he seemed to leave, waving and all, and then came running back onstage just to sing a little more. His "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" is one of my favorite songs by him. It's a shame he left us so soon. :( RIP Otis Redding, you are missed. 1941-1967= too soon.

Did you know that "Sittin' on the Dock o' the Bay" was recorded only 3 days prior to his death? It was released posthumously and was his first #1 hit and first million seller.

I loved Otis Redding! and yes, I remember his death - the year I got married, yet danced to his tunes for years!
Remembering also how ticked I got when the Jackson 5 recorded "Why Do Fools Fall In Love' and folk thought it to be something NEW.... instead of honoring Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers for its original hit!

Where I went to high school in PA, we mostly listened to "soul" music. Don't remember ever going to a dance that we didn't slow dance to "I've Been Loving You Too Long". His music was, and still is, some of the very best.

I didn't realize he was that young when he died. He was terrific, I loved that song. He wrote and recorded the song 'Respect' that Aretha Franklin also did and had a hit with.
