Not necessarily FRANCE....just their new President. He wants to get relations back to where they were a few years ago. France and USA have had on and off relations ever since the War of Independence. But mostly it has been a friendly relationship from which both countries have profited.

Maybe its because they have a new president ?
And it was no mistake before the French President was elected that he was pro American. He ran on that platform and he won.
And why not ? Things may have changed a little in history up to now, but America is still one of the greatest nations in the world. You think it odd because their new president isn't buying the democrat's point of view that we should be hated ? Bill Clinton and others running around talking crap about his own nation. Maybe people are starting to get the clue that we aren't as bad as we've been bad mouthed or made out to be. The French President understands what America stands for, and its opportunities that don't exist elsewhere. He expresses gratitude for what we've done for France in the past while fair weather friend nations have tossed us aside.
The world owes alot to America , for the freedom we've spread, the nation building we've done, and the strength we have shown...if for no other reason, to give the oppressed hope.

Unofficial version: They just gotta get "french fries" back onto American menus.

Official version: Sarkozy's fascinated with all things Americaine.

My version: deep down they know that the destiny and future of France lie with Judeo-Christian culture and not this trendy, politically correct positioning to appease a totally alien culture/religion/people.
