I know contempt of court is when you don't abide by a court order. So, in a divorce case, if your ex doesn't do what they are supposed to do, do you have to re-hire your lawyer and pay mega bucks to go back to court? or since it is contempt of court, so they have to pay, is it split? or what?

It depends upon the jurisdiction. In some states, they will award attorney's fees for contempt of court. In addition, some separation agreements specifically include a provision regarding actions to enforce the court decree. If the failure to comply with the decree involves support payments, your state child support agency might handle the case without charge under some circumstances.
