It's possible, but it's all up to Andy. He's a great player with a lot more potential to fulfill. Just because Jimmy Connors is by his side doesn't mean anything, because Connors is not the one out there on the court playing. Roddick needs to establish himself outside of being known only for his serve. Off both the forehand and backhand side, he's got improvements to make. As long as you're able to put him in a rally, it's possible to beat him, and it's proven true.
In order to make a serious career comeback, he's gotta first fix his game, and stop relying so heavily on his serve. Roddick needs a game plan that will ensure success against guys like Djokovic, Nadal, and especially Federer. I personally think if he can't beat Federer, his chances at success against the others is very slim. He deserves to be at the top, but he has to prove that to the rest of the tennis world. You can practice until your hands and feet smoke, if you don't execute on court, the practice is just wasted.
It will take confidence and hard work to get where he belongs. It's all up to him to make things happen. As far as winning a slam, it will be extremely tough. He'd have to get past the top 3, but it can be done. He can bounce back.

why on earth should he(Andy) be ahead of Davydenko?
I've you folks been watching tennis all year or I'm I the one missing something?
Andy Roddick made the semis of the Australian Open
Lost once again in the first round in Paris
Lost in the Quarters of Wimbledon
Lost in the Quarters in New York!
Let's see Davydenko made the semis in Australia,Paris and New York. He's always struggled on grass
the ATP is not stupid folls, the grand slams is where it's at and at the moment you'd have to be a FOOL and not admit that Davydenko is more consistent in grand slams than Roddick!

Ok, first, there's no evidence aside from one circumstantial instance to say that Davydenko is involved in gambling and anybody who thinks they know something more than that is just plain full of it...
But to the real question, I don't wanna make it sound like I don't want him to succeed, because I'm as big of a Roddick fan as anybody else, but here's the thing; Roddick plays really well one way, he has no legitimate B game. If his serve is off and he's not hitting his forehand well, he's probably going to lose the match. In today's game, with Federers, Djokovics and Nadals, you have to bring not only a B game, but a strong variety in your A game. You have to be able to hit the ball very well off both sides, take advantage of your opponents weak shots, and play the net, all while hitting a great serve/return. I just don't think Roddick has the variety in his game to challenge the better players of today, especially Federer, the man is out of this world. Sad as it may be, the days of simply being able to out hit your opponent are done and over with, in the men's game anyway.
Roddick has shown significant improvement, especially off his backhand (thank you Jimmy Connors), and even his willingness to improve his game instills me with the confidence that he could hopefully prove me wrong, but as I see it RIGHT NOW, he won't.
(Watch him come back and win Wimbledon next season just to make an *** out of me)
Would I like to see Roddick win more Slam titles? Oh yeah. Do I think he could? Probably. Do I think he will? Ehhh... maybe.

No, there are too many players who are younger fitter and more motivated and simply better than Roddick. To win another grandslam, if he gets very lucky with his draw and some big shocks and he is playing out of his skin, he might stand a chance.
What difference does it make whether he is number 4 or 5??
If it influenced his seeding at big tournaments later in 2007, he wouldn't of won them anyway.
As much as it pains me to say, Davydenko is innocent until proven guilty.

I think Roddick has reached his peak and will not win any more Slams as long as Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic are around. Andy has a fantastic serve and forehand but it is simply not enough against these guys. You simply cannot expect to blow guys off court anymore, even on the fast surfaces. He has a great offensive game but an average defensive game and in this day and age, you need to have it all in order to win Slams. Roddick to me has fulfilled his potential and made the most of his talent which is the most any player can ask of himself.

Roddick has the most powerful serve it has to be said. But to stand a realistic chance he needs to be more aggressive particularly at net. Also perhaps he does not have it psychologically to beat the Federer machine. He should ask people who have beaten him on the big stages (Nadal being the only one to beat him at a grand slam these last few years) and until he beats the Federer at at grand slam his career is effectively at numbers 4 or 5. The top 3 are amazing and could/will all become legends in the game.

Yeah, I agree, Roddick is finding further and further interior the mixture with the impressive 4 gamers. on the different hand, Djokovic has regressed this year and the optimum situation seems to be self assurance. He additionally gets too annoyed with himself on the courtroom for extremely no longer something in any respect. you won't be able to get so down on your self for no longer taking part in your terrific and enable that proceed to electrify your play. with a bit of luck those problems do no longer linger on too long; possibly it is going to be extra appropriate for Novak overdue into this year; if no longer, he could desire to look forward to a sparkling start up next year and attempt to overlook the slumping year he had (by making use of his standards). by making use of the way, for all people who do in contrast to Djokovic for his brashness (and we are seeing much less and much less of that now when you consider that he's dropping extra...), i could p.c. to show out that he's definitely extremely a donning character. He frequently applauds his opponent's great pictures, and his tip to Roddick to undertaking a decision this evening grew to become into an particularly stable occasion of sportsmanship: he could have went up 4-a million interior the 2nd set, yet particularly grew to become into at last broken in that game. As for Roddick, it form of sounds like he's taken each and all of the positives from his stellar play and he keeps to play incredibly nicely. Many concept that loss to Federer could desire to be devastating, yet luckily that may no longer the case. it is nevertheless slightly early to assert if he can win the U. S. Open. If he's in a position to get a pair extra wins as against the likes of Rafa, Murray, Djokovic, Del Potro, and doubtless even Federer, then his potentialities seem very marvelous. A identify win in Montreal or Cincinnati could do him much extra stable. the following day he will face yet another difficult attempt, so enable's see what happens.

I don't still don't understand how someone in the top ten gets no respect. He is one of the best 10 players in the world! Playing in an era with arguably the best player of all time and the best clay courter of all time. People talk like he is a hack. HE IS IN THE TOP 10! I'm not even a big fan, but damn. Oh, and he has a winning record over the now (for now, I should probably say) official greatest player--Sampras.

Yes of course! I agree with you, he should be in Davydenko's place. If Roddick continues training hard, improves his backhand, forehand, the way he serves and his net plays, he can even come to top 3
