I rented one and couldn't really hear until about 10 weeks, although some claim to hear as early as 8 weeks. It brought me great comfort in those early months to hear the heartbeat. I'd say wait a week and then rent one.

10 to 14 weeks is the average time that you can hear the heartbeat. For me I didn't hear until 13 weeks with my first and 14 weeks with my 2nd. If you have an ultrasound in early pregnancy (usually between 8 and 12 weeks) if you ASK they can play the heartbeat for you, but you have to ask them, otherwise they just measure it, and it's silent.

might be a bit soon to hear depending on how thin you are and the position of the baby in your uterus. 10 weeks would be more probable. Why not let your doctor find it. He will turn the volume up and let you hear it too. It is one of the most exciting sounds I have heard!

It's probably too soon. The ones you can rent aren't as good as the ones at the doctor's office. Plus, even the doctor often can't find it/hear it before at least 10 wks.

You'll be able to hear it at your doc's appointment later on. It will be so faint you probably won't be able to hear it over the placenta. Instead, go and spend the money on a cute little outfit.

You won't be able to hear it quite yet. You'd be able to see it beating on an ultrasound, but you won't be able to hear it until you're about 10 weeks.
