If you mean (x² - x)/2x = 3^x, there's no solution.

If you mean x² - x/(2x) = x² - 1/2 = 3^x, x = 0.278166 by way of ti-83. No nice algebraic way to solve that.

(x^2 -x)/2x = 3^x
(x-1)/2 = 3^x
extract ln of both sides
ln(x-1) - ln(2) = xln(3)
ln(x-1) - 0.6931 = 1.0986x
ln(x-1) = 1.0986x + 0.6931
Sorry, I forgot how to proceed from here.
