Why have we as a society decided that women should shave their legs?

You got me baffled. Although individuals differ, women on the whole tend to be less furry than men. Maybe shaving legs, pits, bikini lines, etc is supposed to exaggerate that "girly" feature.

Looking younger is supposed to be better, and hair around the legs etc gets more visible as a girl grows up. Looking more un-grownup seems to be important in lots of ways. I think it gets creepy when grown women want to look like pre-pubescent girls, and little girls try to look way too grown up.

It's a fashion. It doesn't make sense, and doesn't have to. I wouldn't want to date Bigfoot, but I'm quite happy with fuzz on a lady. I'm also happy without it - it's the lady I'm interested in.

Women only started shaving their legs when nylons were invented. There are many women that don't shave in the U.S.A. I have shaved both my chest and legs. The shaving wasn't that difficult but I felt rather naked under my trousers when I shaved. You feel the cool air so much more and your trousers don't stick to your legs like when you have hairy legs. I think men do have larger pores than women. I shaved my armpits a few times. It was difficult not to get razor bumps. I think the larger pores make it easier for normal bacteria to cause the razor bumps in men.

Because women do so to keep up their pretty appearance....."pretty" and "men" are two words that do not go together. We shave our faces that's enough in my books and unless we become body builders or underwear models there is no need for a man to shave anything else.

I don't know why women CHOOSE to shave their legs, some guys shave theirs too, but the vast majority accept body hair as our natural cover.

something that developed culturally over time, i don't shave my arms or legs but luckily i'm not very hairy. but shave my chest, under arms and privates, and luckily again i don't have hair on my back. Anyways i don't think it the feminizing of the male, almost all body builders are completely shaven and they are considered to be masculine.

With the "chickification" of men, who shave their backs, chests and private areas, it's only a matter of time.

because hairniness is a masculine thing. everyone knows that femine qualities are more attractive than masculin ones, so women are expected to shave their legs. while men remain as they are naturally
