Yes, I saw the movie "Blast From The Past" with Brendan Fraser. I suppose that the bomb shelter could sustain three people for 35 years without being discovered with the use of high-tech technology available in 1962, when the parents of Adam (Brendan Fraser's character) entered it. The high-tech shelter is linked to a entry pothole that no one but the engineer who engineered it could open it.
As for your question on whether if a high-tech bomb shelter that could sustain three or more people for 35+ years, it could be possible. In case the threats from a new nuclear war in Iran, Russia, or some other dictatorship happen in the future, it's time for us to go back into the bomb shelters just like what everyone did in panic 40 years ago.

That was a funny movie. -And had more than a few grains of truth embedded in it- too! I have to admit that it's a bit of a "stretch" to think that 3 people could live underground for 35 years without anyone stumbling upon them (ESPECIALLY in a residential neighborhood)... Still, I remember those "bomb shelter days"- & some people DID take them pretty seriously... So I guess I'd say it WAS "possible" -but EXTREMELY UNLIKELY... :)

I don't think it would be possible especially for the fact that a business was built over the bomb shelter. I am pretty sure they would have unearthed some part of it in the process of building. Its a cute movie nonetheless.

I think the main issue would be the vents and filters for the air. I don't remember how they got their oxygen but if it was from the surface someone would have paved over it and put in a parking lot.

It's Hollywood why not. Brendan is pretty cute in that movie though.

Yes, if they weren't being looked for (which they weren't because the plane fell on them and they though they all died - so another building got made).
