i am joining the navy and once a week i have to visit my recruiters( until i leave in mid feburary). usually it is the same ol' stuff, but this one time a person very high in rank came to "visit" us and watch us do our physical training. it was an older lady, say...50. and i had a horrible urge to tackle her to the ground. just to spear her with all my might. i'm not sure why, maybe because she was so "special" and "honorable". i don't even know what was going on in my psyche. do you? and, do you ever get urges to totally do something horrific like that just for the heck of it (or whatever psycological reasoning)?

i think maaaybe why i wanted to tackle her was because it would have made me... significant. she's so high and honorable and i'm a recruit. such a big/significant event. it was only an urge so no i'm not crazy.

Such thoughts are not uncommon when you are young, impulsive, and your testosterone and adrenalin are raging. They diminish a lot as you get older. They are usually nothing to worry about, unless you are an aggressive person and prone to acting on your impulses.

But be very careful if you are drinking or using recreational drugs. Then your internal controls are weakened and you could easily act on your impulses, harming someone and destroying your future. Also, if you become involved in combat, you must learn to keep your wits about you and make smart decisions very quickly so you do not jeopardize the lives of yourself or your comrades.

Yes, its called intrusive thinking and I used to have them often when i was in a"dark place". I was perscribed Zoloft, honestly I think my brain just needed a lil boost of seretonin and I don't have vivid images like that anymore, they come when you are under a lot of stess, so maybe you got a little stressed out about impressing her.

I wouldn't worry, your high ranking officer was probably fantasizing about being tackled to the ground and speared by a sweaty, young recruit.

Yes, sometimes. I call that stress. I can in vision myself doing a lot of things that I will never do. That doesn't make you a bad person. Just be real with yourself.

I think many people (including) have those urges, it only matters when you act on it I suppose.

I often get the urge to slap certain people right across the face, i don't know why. (rarely have I acted on it).

Yes.
These are called intrusive thoughts.
We probably all have them, and they come in varying degrees of "imprudence".
