*15W-40 is diesel engine oil. It has more zinc and phosphorus for added diesel engine frictional surface wear. The added zinc and Phosphorus in diesel oil will shorten the life of the catalytic converters in all gasoline engines. Don't run out and change your oil if you have only added one quart. Do not use 100% diesel engine oil in a gas engine because catalytic converter replacement down the road is very expensive. If you live in a country that offers 15W-40 gasoline oil, continue to use it. I'd give a dollar to read the manual in your glove-compartment to read what it says about the proper oil for your car. Here in America there are no car or truck companies (foreign or American) that EVER recommended 10W-40 or 15W-40 diesel oil in a gasoline engine. Neither one has the "star-burst" symbol on the can which means it's energy efficient. There is no such thing as 15W-40 gasoline oil in America.

one of the person that post here is right.. it will blow some seals.. but i would take it to the nearest shop and have em reduce the oil.. ive seem some folks ad up to 5 qts and ull notice the car smokin black smoke and leakin in some area.. well 1 qt is not bad but i would suggest not to overfill it.. half a qt is ok but 1 qt is a bit more.. goodluck again..

No damage. Not to worry. As long as you filled the crankcase. Just drain it out and start over. If you put it in the gas tank...you have a problem.

it may start blowing some of it out,or cause a seal or two to leak on it,to be safe about id get it out of it,its actually better to run any engine a quart low on oil than to be over full,it needs to be removed though to be safe about it,good luck with it.

It may give black smoke from your exhaust for some time. No other harm is expected.
