This question is in a practice test for a nursing program. The answer they cite is 5000. There are different answers to this problem depending on how you round off, but I haven't been able to get an even 5000...I'd be interested in seeing what everyone else gets as the solution.

2/3% x = 33.3
2%x = 100 ........... assuming 33.3 is 100/3 and multiplying by 3
(2/100)x = 100
2x = 100(100) = 10,000
x = 5,000

If you write the equation as the following:

2/3% of x = 33.3 then
x = 33.3/(2/3%)

Remember 1% = 1/100 so 2/3% = 2/300
x = 33.3/(2/300)
x = 33.3*(300/2)
x = 4995

(x * 2/3)/100 = 33.3
x * 2/3 = 333
x * 66.666666 = 333
x = 4995

However if you take (5000 * 2/3)/100 you get 33.333333
