We get back a significant refund because my husband insists on leaving his W4 set in a way to take out maximum withholdings. I think it is a bad decision to basically give the government an interest free loan for the year, but we compromise by using the refund to pay our property taxes and our annual insurance bill. Any remaining funds from the refund will be used for general household expenses and/or applies to the trip to China that one of my children and myself are taking this summer.
