really - not to be a smarty-pants, but liberals are better comics. i know there are some conservative comics, but they just aren't funny. dennis miller used to be funny, now he just looks like an out-of-control post-rehab frat boy. and those guys were never really funny, even in college...

Life is too important to be taken seriously.

The liberal is only funny to themselves when they advocate poking fun at white Christians and George bush. Make a joke with any reference to gays, lesbians, indians, blacks, asians etc, Global warming, drug use, abortion, the clintons, i.e. great stain maker, Al gore, the list is endless and all of a sudden your funny liberal comedian turns into a ranting physco lunatic finally blaming George bush for all that ills the world and our country. Example, Rosy odonnell, whoppie goldburg, lewis black, al franken, Jeanine garrafalo. The conservative is not held back by political correctness as most modern day liberals. Therefore does find humor in most of life's ironies and imperfections Dennis miller is still very funny and is a genius at doing just that. If you listen to conservative talk radio you will find it to be very funny one reason is they can find humor in those things that the liberal considers taboo. This is one of the reasons talk radio is dominated by conservatives and has such high ratings over there counterparts. There is humor on both sides of the isle. there is more room for comedy and laughter on more subjects in the conservatives base as is room for discussion, debate and fairness when push comes to shove.

Humor is all about perspective. It's the switcheroo effect of thinking about a situation from a different perspective that makes it remarkable and therefore---funny. Conservatives prefer their perspective to stay focused on their goal. Thinking out side the box doesn't seem "funny ha-ha" to them. It seems "funny" as in peculiar and perhaps threatening to their perceived status quo.

Here's a general axiom about humor - it's generally humorous to laugh about yourself, and to poke fun or satirize the high and the mighty.

A lot of "conservative humor" tries to make fun or sneer at the downtrodden or marginal members of society, and generally that fails badly. Example being Don Imus trying (very badly) to be funny by supposedly making fun of women of color - the Rutgers women's basketball team. Or Mallard Fillmore the comic strip.

Because with conservative hardliners, its hard to tell if they are joking or being serious. Lots of times, I find myself thinking, "man this guy has to be joking", only to find out they are being serious, So when they are actually joking, you really aren't sure.

Larry the Cable Guy
Ron White

They are hysterical. Definitely not democrats.

Liberals are attracted to the entertainment industry because of a variety of reasons. Many of the great comics of the past 30 years lived pathetic personal lives with drug and alcohol abuse.

Your premise is correct, but I would not be proud of this.

Liberals and Conservatives are wired differently. They even have different senses of humor.

When the liberals poke fun at the conservatives, the conservatives smile and take it. When the tables are turned, the liberals get very testy about being made fun of. I guess some people can take it and others can't.

Not many conservatives on here seem to have a sense of humor. I do enjoy Government Cheese.

Take Kitty's comments for example. Some might take offense.
