The Nichols Brothers (oil distributer) had 5 cent matinees on Saturday. Of course with only one theater there weren't very many choices. The magic number was 11. It got an RC and a Moon Pie and you got 2cents back for returning the bottle. Hey but I'm still having fun today!

I remember gas wars. I grew up in So Cal,so we went to the drive in a lot as a family, and I do remember having a playground in front of the movie screen so that kids could play if they got there before the movie started. We used to pop our own popcorn and bring it with us.
I remember when gas was well under a buck and I remember when i was 18 years old and the price was inching up to a buck a gallon and I swore when it got that high, I'd stop driving! That was 28 years ago.

I remember all but the 10 cent movie admission. Maybe because my parents paid, so I never paid attention to what it cost.

Yes you are showing your age...but now so am I.
I remember sitting on the rear window dash and counting cars we passed. I remember the boxes attached to the windows of the car at the drivein and also the trays at the drive-in A & W restaurant, and the servers on roller skates too.
