I do, too. I have a couple of favorites which tend to have generally better organization and quality. I also like the dollar stores!

Sure! I think the only items of clothing I have bought new for my daughter have come from markets. I don't buy so many of my clothes there, but I can't actually remember the last time I bought an article of clothing for myself anyway. I'm a stay at home mum so I rarely need anything flash, and before that I was a uni student. Clothes shopping when you have a baby in tow isn't much fun anyway, whether it's an op shop or any other shop. I do historical recreation (SCA) so I will periodically dig through the local op shops for fabric, pieces of fur, buttons, wooden dishes, oh and books. I'm a book-a-holic and find more interesting stuff in second hand bookshops than the large chains.
Buying recycled stuff is also an ethical choice. I can't do much about the fact that most of our clothing is made in sweatshops, and can't afford to buy everything in the "no sweatshop" brands, so buying recycled clothing is a good option.

All the time. I buy everything but my underwears there. Same for the kids. That way, every season I can afford to buy a whole new wardrobe, and if something get stained behond redemption I don't feel bad about tossing it in the garbage bin. Also, this summer, I redid all my house decoration with paintings, picture frames, candle holders, knickknacks...and it didn't cost half as much as if I had bought everything new!

I do. I'm so enthusiastic about it that I created a database of stores in my area.
The reason I do this is because I love owning tons of clothes, and I love buying tons of clothes. But I don't like paying retail prices. Besides that, you can so easily buy something new and it gets mucked up in the wash, buttons fall off, etc. When you buy used, you at least know it's made it through some of the initial wear and tear.
And of course you can buy clothes that you couldn't afford to buy retail.
I buy things besides clothes too. I enjoy making treasures out of trash.

I never buy clothes anywhere else. I have some really nice things, like silk and cashmere and leather and suede and linen, and alpaca, and other such things, and I bought them all for next to nothing at thrift stores. There is no way that I could ever afford such nice things if I had to pay retail. *sm*

I have and I do from time to time. But I won't go into the Salvation Army stores around here, they are filthy and they stink. I'll do business with a consignment shop type first, their merchandise is generally better quality.
I don't mean to offend anyone with my comment.

Yes. The last time I went I bought a sweater that was brand new for $1.00. Later found out it was a $48.00 at the store.
