I saw on a yahoo video that a girl got detentions for hugging friends, and I think that it's just frickin jacked up for schools to ban hugs. Kissing and holding hands have a good reason to be banned, but hugging to me is not a crime at all. I live in California near San Jose, and I want to know if they'll ban hugging around there. I give my friends hugs all of the time, and it never hurt anybody!

What is happening is schools around here (Chicago area) is that kids are getting into massive group hugs that clog the halls and students can not get from class to class. So the schools have banned ALL hugging. If not, where do they draw the line, 2 kids, 3 kids, 5 kids? It was just easier to ban ALL hugging. Group hugging is a fad. All fads pass. I imagine that if these group hugs are not a problem, they will not ban hugs at your school.

my school banned hugging too. and as ridiculous as it sounds, kissing is ok to "greet" friends. but no1 takes that rule seriously in my school and they dont seem to bother anyone or give detentions. but its still there in the code of conduct books and stuff. I live in Mass by the ways.

I sure hope they don't! Hugging isn't wrong! I hug my friends ALOT even infront of my teachers. If they ever ban hugging at my school I swear I'll T.P. the principals house!
