- Points in all games but one
- first multiple point game this evening
- beautiful wrist shot goal to tie this evening's game at 2
- supposedly one of the prettiest goals in NHL history earlier this year (although an old fart like me has seen millions like that)

Mikey - Toews will continue the pace...no worries there..same with Kane...........but as much as I watch kane and Toews.............Toews is only 6 months older than Kane...but his maturity on the ice is much greater. Kane seems to get all the lucky bounces though (not that there is anything wrong with that). And I'll answer your Theodore query tomorrow

I still cannot believe that Toews wasn't a finalist for the Hobey last season. No one else agrees with me on that, but I'm kind of hoping that the Sioux will just bomb this season so my opinion will be a bit more justified. But no team could have had a more pathetic start than the Gophers this year. It's almost shameful. What am I saying? It IS shameful. Whoa.... I digress, I digress, I digress..... Anyway, I agree with you - for now. At this point, Toews is "absotively, posolutely splendiferous" - Sir Tigger. Not only is he getting points, but he makes those points look REALLY good. What more could the NHL want in a rookie? Sheesh. Kane seems to be his top competition for the Calder right now. However, he lacks the aesthetic play which Toews brings. Anyway, Chicago hit the rookie jackpot this season. A bit like the Pens last season... and the year before that. Life's unfair. Pfffffft. Toews for Calder.

Kane's the only one that can push him out of the pole position but, I agree, Toews may be too strong. Barring a long term injury, the awar's got ot be his.
The Hawks will certainly benefit in more ways than one if Toews and Kane were to keep up this pace through into April.

There are some good goalies in Price and Harding making a case should they play more frequently. Toews is definately in competition with Kane. It's great to see the Blackhawks on the rise.
LET'S GO PENS!

I can not agree. Not even one fourth of the season has been played. What if he gets injured the next game? Even if he doesn't get injured I strongly doubt that he will keep at his current pace. I don't think he'll get 80 pts. this year. Of course, even if he does drop off pace, it all depends on how Patrick Kane does. Those two are the best rookies in the NHL. Wow LITY, you're lucky to have two such great rookies on your team, lol. Kind of like the Avs last year.
btw, I asked you a question about Theodore in your previous question. I know, weird, lol, but could you take a look?

If they voted on the award tonight, without question. For the same reasons they play all 82 + playoffs prior to awarding the cup, I will wait for at least most of the regular season games to be played. I am not the type to root against a player simply because he is playing well. I believe it is good for the game to have as many star players as possible and I hope he is able to continue this throughout the season.
Good luck to him and the Hawks, he would undoubtedly get my vote right now.

No. It's November, any talk of who should get individual awards for this NHL season should wait until the end of the year. After the all star break we will have a better idea of who is still in the running for the Calder.

They name 3 players for the award as finalists and then the winner is selected. Can anyone name 3 guys who have performed better than Toews so far who qualify? Me neither.
I'm still jealous he wears a Blackhawk uniform but all you have to do is watch him play and you can see for 19 his skills, talent and potential are exceptional.
I will make one 'stick your neck out' prediction now and agree with LITY in that he is one of the three finalists.

It is so wonderful to see hope for my Blackhawks again. And with other sports franchises in Chicago doing horrible this winter season, it may be time for the Blackhawks to return to glory.
