My D1 student-athlete background aside, I Love Casual Gaming. period.

One thing that confuses me endlessly is that why do people spend so many hours playing MMO's, FPS, RPG, knowing that spending all this time doesn't help us in real-life; and later only to be discarded.

I know few people who I used to team up and play with, and lost themselves in games like WoW (I'm sure some of you heard this a lot). They just spend all that time grinding endlessly for some *epic* cyber-gear. This is what happened to one of them = half of his raid t5 raid set, dropped out of HS, parents left him to pay back every cent of his 2+years WoW subscription, compy got taken away, miserable.

Of course, not many people end up like that; he was just hardcore at the wrong time. Some people function normally, but to the hardcores, WHY?

I'm just a casual gamer. Since I attend college and work, I only get to game for an hour or two a day if I'm lucky. I play a lot of RPGs, but not online ones, just console RPGs. I'm sure if you played many hours a day it would definitely interfere with your life, both socially and professionally.

Idk. I play casually like at times where there's nothing else to do I.E around late at night cause it's not like you can go outside or hang with friends all the time at night. So 7-10 is nice to play but I have a friend who Plays RS and OMG he *^&^% me off. Every day pretty much he plays Runescape. I mean i'd be a little more acceptable if it was a better game like WOW but come on.... RS? Anyway games are entertainment, no different that watching a movie, reading a book, or playing a sport, Some people just think that video games aren't.... a productive use of time.

some people becoming addicted to games, and use them to escape reality

also theres the pro aspect. there are people that will make more money then you playing video games and your D1 sports wont get you very far if your not signed to major leagues.
