that's liberalism for ya...liberals are nothing but stalinists at heart, and you now live with the consequences of their influence on this country. i guess you don't like it much do you?...vote these people out of government wherever you can. it's the only way and will take time...lots and lots of time. but it must be done...

Schools have always regulated students behavior in school. When I was in school, girls were not allowed to wear pants and jeans and tee shirts were forbidden for boys. Showing any signs of affection toward the opposite sex would have gotten you into big trouble. It never even occurred to anyone that children had rights until the cultural uproar of the 60's, and then the liberals were blamed for the breakdown of standards. I rather like the more permissive atmosphere in society today, but thinking there was a golden era in the past when people, especially young people had more freedom is mistaken. I find it ironic that some people here are now accusing liberals of enforcing standards of behavior in schools.

Separation of church and state IS a part of our freedom. The coach is free to pray whenever and wherever he likes as a private citizen. But once he goes to work at a state-financed school, he is forbidden from promoting any religion. I am not a Christian, and neither are 22% of your fellow Americans. Part of our religious freedom is not being obligated to have our tax money go to finance a religion we do not believe in. Your example of being "against freedom" isn't a very good one.

My only answer is for your 2 situations. Adults are scared of kids hugging cuz they might have sex...Aaaaah! And the coach was probably complained about by someone who can't or doesn't have the outlet to do their religios ritual for fear of persecution which is a huge reason we came here in the first place. Good question. If it doesn't hurt anyone, who cares?

You're seeing the results of years of multi-culturalism BS foisted upon society by the liberals. Liberals, while professing a love of freedom, abhor your freedom to disagree with their totalitarian ideas.
NEVER! vote for a Democrat.

I really don't know. It's pretty sad. There are so many people out there that are so judgmental of everybody else. I think we should all be able to believe in whatever we want and express those beliefs (like praying, for example) as long as it doesn't hurt others.

When a student gets punished for "Hugging",that is a violation of freedom of speech."Speech" does not have to be in "WORDS".
The school needs to be sued!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the school gave the person "Detention" for "Hugging" then the school and staff, being that they violated rights and held a child against their will, rather it be detention what have you should also be sued for "False Imprisonment" under the law.
SUE SUE SUE SUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take`em for everything!!!
