I think the school went a little extreme as they now have a policy (or are in deliberation on it) about banning hugging between students. They claim this is because too many students spend more time cuddling and hugging in the hallways and therefore end up late for class. They say they also implement the policy because many students take the affection too far.
As far as punishing the girl for hugging another girl. A parent can claim discrimination if they ban opposite sex hugs only...they may use the grounds that then only homosexual students are allowed to hug.....
I think the whole policy is extreme, but I can see where the school is TRYING to come from.
