I know this sounds crazy, but I've been using this technique since I was in 3rd grade after reading it in an article about hiccups in my 3rd grade class. I have a full glass of water, and drink the water from the other end of the glass, so that you kind of have to tip your head forward, or almost bending over to prevent spillage. I know it sounds absurb, but it's always worked for me. Good luck!

When someone i'm with has the hiccups, i try to scare them. Mean as that sounds, it usually works. Best way i've come up with doing that isn't doing the shock treatment (cuz that just looks silly in public), but to ask them seriously (after they've been hiccupping a bit, so they don't suspect anything), is if they left their wallet or keys out at the last place we were walking by. That works great :P. I usually get hit after, but hey, least they aren't hiccuping anymore!

My Biology teacher swears that if you ask, "What goes up a chimney?", it will work because it has something to do with santa VS smoke. I'm not sure of the science behind it. You have to do it totally random and not while they are thinking about the hiccups. It works for me every time.
The key thing is: DON'T OBSESS OVER THEM.
They will go away.

Take 10 really deep breaths. I have them right now. They suck but i'm taking my 10 breaths, lol.

Edit:
Always works a charm for me. They just went away afterwards. Holding your breath does nothing but make them worse for me, hiccups are caused by not enough oxygen so how would holding your breath work?

Drink some water too. They will go away.

Make someone scare the hiccups out of you.

I eat a cough drop and it ALWAYS helps me. I had them a few minutes ago. But if you don't want to do that, you should hold you're breath for as long as possible. It works even better if you're hanging upside down off the couch or something while you hold your breath.

I'm not kidding. Drink one shot of peppermint snopps and those hiccups will be gone in a flash.

I drink soda, like right away after my first hiccup..
if that dosnt work..eat straight sugar.. sounds gross..but it works..
and try concentrating on your breathing..dont hold your breath just relax and concentrate.
