Doubt it. The Democrats are completely gutless, especially the leadership.

It would be fitting, if, because of the stunt the Republicans pulled to embarrass the Democrats, Conyers decided to give it a real hearing, and impeachment did result.

This administration has done far more that is blatantly illegal than just about any administration before it. It's a shame they have all their political opposition so cowed.

Dennis Kucinich introduced the measure, which was set aside by the Democrats. According to Democratic leaders, there are many critical issues facing Congress in this session and now isn't the time to tie up Congress with an impeachment proceeding. Republicans voted in favor of the measure to debate the question to prevent Democrats from pursuing other bills in the Democratic legislative agenda.
The Kucinich measure is 8 pages long, listing Cheney's grievances against his country. Until we can read it, it's hard to say if Cheney could be impeached for the charges in the bill.
It's very likely that Bush will be imprisoned for violations of federal laws prohibiting torture after his term expires. Bush's own Asst. Attorney General Daniel Levin informed Bush that waterboarding is torture, so Bush fired him. Bush is now officially a war criminal awaiting trial.

Its all a dog and pony show. Even if they did impeach him he'll be out of office before they could complete it and then it will be meaningless anyway just like it was with Clinton. All an impeachment is is an indictment. BFD. Then you have to get the senate to confirm it. It's not going to happen. What grounds would you impeach him on anyway? He's a big meanie? They just told us that its perfectly legal for a politician to lie to us so that won't work. Remember Clinton wasn't impeached for lying to us but to the grand jury. For Haliburton? I don't think you'll find a legal connection. Its pie in the sky and an opportunity for the spinmeisters to ply their trade, nothing more. If you hate republicans then vote for a democrat next election but don't waste your time with the soap opera they're trying to sell you now. The soap doesn't work anyway.

Nope. The Dems are lying to you. They have no interest in impeaching Cheney or Bush or even leaving Iraq for that matter. They just say they do so you'll vote for them and then they rape and pillage...business as usual. This strategic move by the Republicans brought this fact into the light of day.

i think that the republicans may have made one of the few strategic moves that i have seen them make.

they are trying to make the congress look foolish for forcing an impeachment vote against a man with a 9% approval rating - the lowest ever measured.

also their move is designed to PREVENT any actual debate of the topic.

god alone knows where that would go...

The Dems always want to impeach any Republican politician that has even 10 points higher of an IQ then the Dems. Cheney's dwarfs any Dem politician's.

My gut tells me no, but if he is I will definitely begin to believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny again.

Now if the GOP would only impeach both Shrub and Cheney......before the presidential elections , and before all the caucuses etc.

Not a chance. Republicans tried to force the Dems' hand to show the public just how rabidly nuts they are.

Democrats smartly didn't take the bait.

No!

This is an effort by the republicans to force the commucrats to have to stand up and publicly state their charges and show evidence. He won't be impeached since they have no proof just the same old lies they have been telling us for over fifty years.

A very small one.

Congress really needs to focus on making laws.

Anyone remember how it dragged the country down at the end of the Clinton administration?
