That's actually not the reason the moon appears larger. Popular, but incorrect.

Read this. I assume that the same applies for patterns of stars.

For much the same reason the moon looks bigger when it is low in the sky. Your mind unconsciously relates the object with terrestrial objects around it, making it look larger than it actually is.

the contellations means the group of stars.the stars appear so small but they are big.like this
