Do you think anyone will attack us if we hadn't decided to invade iraq? Probably not.

9/11 was planned by Bush. If he did not plan it, we would not have been attacked.

Putting people in jail is different than killing them. Other communist states had an oppressive government. That's why they failed.

We should get rid of our military because we don't want war.

We should get rid of the border patrol because we don't want illegal aliens

We should get rid of the police force and all jails because we don't want violent crime

We should get rid of the firefighters, because we don't want arson.

We should get rid of mace because we don't want women getting raped.

We should get rid of doctors because we don't want illness.

There's no doubt that we spend way too much on the military, however, eliminating it would be foolish. I don't think we should be bombing the world safe, but if we didn't have a military we'd all be wearing turbans and praying to Mecca five times a day. If We NEVER had a military we'd most likely all be goostepping to the drumbeats of a Hitler-like or Stalin-esque dictator.

You can smoke all the weed you want, hold hands, sing Kum-By-Yah, put on some tye-dye and beads, and WISH everyone would just get a long, but the bottom line is that it WON'T happen.

To get a good idea of what MIGHT happen without a system of defense try this:

Leave your house/apartment unlocked AND put up a sign that says "Welcome Criminals". Then wonder why your stereo, TV, computer, and cash suddenly vanish.

We can't just put a padlock on the country. We need things like tanks, syealth fighters, and thermonuclear weapons. It's called "Peace Through Superior Firepower."

Additionally, military equipment and the components used to make them are one of the last bastions of "Made in USA" labor. If we stopped military production we would put millions of people out of work. Everyone from armor developers, to engineers, to semi-conductor chip makers, to mechanics would be out of a job. I suppose they could all move to China then and make toys.

Think of it this way. If we decided to get rid of our military what do you beleive will happen? That all the other countries will follow suit even the terrorists and we will all come together and hug a tree in Cali? I don't think so. It would be mass genocide of the American people more likely. So many terrorists and countries hate us that they would systematically try and kill everyone one of us till there was no more risk of us. As a the supreme world power the US uses it's military for many good things but best of all it defends the people. I don't know about you but I thank the military with my whole heart for being brave enough to protect us as fervently as they do.

Honey, we were attacked BEFORE we invaded Iraq. If you have no military other countries will attack, it would be inevitable. Who is teaching you this trash? Have you ever heard the saying "peace through strength"? Of course we want peace but sometimes war is necessary.

Getting rid of our military will not result in peace. It will only result in slavery or destruction. For us. Because if we are defenseless, any nation that doesn't like us can have it's way with us.

There's an old saying that is quite valid. "Peace thru superior firepower."

Ever notice how heavily armed nations like Switzerland stay at peace?

JJ,

We should not.

But we should take back control of our military.

The most peaceful times in the last 10,000 years have been guaranteed through superior firepower.

What communist countries do you base your grand visions of equality on?

JJ, there are no self described communist countries in history that did not enforce their vision with sheer firepower.

What you suggest is akin to no longer spending resources to defend ourselves from disease or natural disaster.

Do you realize that Ghengis Khan literally brought peace and toleration into a primitive world?

Without his armies it could not have been accomplished.

Imbibing cups of chamomile tea whilst listening to the choppy recitation of poetry that was penned in an equally disjointed fashion will not alter eons of human behavior.

By denying the natural taxonomy of mankind, a person dooms his or her brethren to unnecessary torment.

Yes we should have a military. The next big global resource that will be in demand after oil will be fresh water and guess who has the most of it?

You are absolutely correct. We should get rid of our military. However I think that the US should get rid of theirs last. So, you first.

By the way, I think it was the Korean dictator who promised to get rid of his nuclear arms. He promised this to Clinton, and he waltzed out of that meeting like a liberal with new ribbon to pin on his lapel, singing "kumbya". Sadly said dictator was lying in his face.

Because then Canada can walk down and take over. And Mexico can come up. They can duke it out in Missouri. Canada may be bigger, but Mexico is scrappy. It might be a pretty even fight.
