They will give you a pap smear.
Here is what they'll do:
1. They'll ask you questions like...
-Are you sexually active? Orally? Anally? Vaginally?
-Do you use condoms?
-Do you smoke? (Smoking can increase the risk of heart problems in women who use birth control pills)
-Are you being abused? (They want to make sure that you are not being hurt or forced to have sex)
-Do you have sex with men, women, or both?
Make sure to be HONEST with them!
2. They will leave the room and have you take off your underwear and pants. You can leave your shirt on but you have to unhook your bra. You will sit on the table/bed and cover your bottom half with a blanket.
3. They will come in and have you lay down. They'll feel your breasts for bumps or problems - basically checking for anything that could resemble cancer. Most planned parenthoods will do this and it doesn't hurt.
4. They'll have you move your bottom to the edge of the table. You'll put your feet on stirrups to put your legs higher in the air. She'll put her finger inside of you and feel around. She'll press down on your stomach and ask you if you feel any pain. Then she'll stick a metal object inside of you, it doesn't hurt but it feels uncomfortable. She'll look at your cervix and then scrape it with a Qtip to check for pre-cancerous cells and/or STDs.
5. She will be done and she'll leave the room. You'll put your clothes back on and then you'll get your pills. You need to get a pap smear once a year or every six months if there is a problem.
Please don't have sex until you're ready. It comes with a lot of things you may not be ready to deal with. You are not immune to unwanted pregnancies or STDs. STDs are actually very common - 1 in 3 people have had one sometime in their lives and 1 in 4 currently has one! You are also at risk for becoming very emotional. Will you be alright if you sleep with someone and they break up with you? If I could do it all over again I would have waited until marriage. It's not worth it. A real man, a good man, will wait.

You should call and make an appointment because this will get you through the process a lot quicker (Call: 1-877-680-6086). If you have not had a pap smear then you will need to get one done before they give you any form of birth control (atleast this is how it works at the PPH clinic I go to.) A pap smear is a test that they use to check your system for any STD's or abnormalties. You will have to take off all of your clothes and put on a gown, then you will lay down on the table on your back once the doctor comes in and they will take swabs of your vaginal area to test the cells. It only takes a few minutes. Then the doctor will give you a form of BC once you are finished with everything. You might have to sign some paperwork and you may even be able to get the BC for free if you fill out a financial aid sheet. Good Luck, I hope I was of some help :)

I dont know how all planned parenthoods work, but i know that most do make you fill out some personal information. Many clinics also make the person get a pap smear, to ensure they are ok to be on birth control. The point of planned parenthood, is to be discrete though, so this is done without the parents being told. They just keep the information for thier records and do not notify the parents. If you are concerned that your parents might find out, call them and make sure they dont notify the parents if a woman comes in for birth control.

I was in the same position last year. I kinda wanted pills for free and when i went there, filled out a long form, and then they told me i needed to make an appt. first to TALK to someone... the appt. would cost like $50.00 and even after that I would only get a discount on pills and have to pay for pills like $30-$40 each time
... I was 19 at the time, BUT depending on what state you're in I think you can get them for free if you are under 18!! Just look up your town/city Planned Parenthood and call and ask!

It really depends. They have clinics here in Minnesota were you can get birth control without getting a pelvic exam. You are not going to be able to get them without some form of paperwork. If you call planned parenthood they can tell you everything you will need to bring and be prepared for. If you need state assistance for birth control, they require an id and birth certificate. If you need an exam, it will be a simple pelvic exam and cervix scrape. All of this takes about 45 minutes, and most clinics do require some sort of yearly check up to continue most birth controls.

If it is your first time gettin them from planned parenthood, then you will have to call and make an appt with them. They will tell you everything you will need to do then. First you will have to have an exam, take a pregnancy test, and usually a pap smear as well. Talk to them about all your options too. Good Luck hun, and please to it now, if you are sexaully active, it only takes once!

Hi hun. You'll have to get a pap smear test, and then usually they'll give you some birth control pills. Some places gives you the pills for free while others have you pay for them, but it's not expensive.
here are a few good sites to read about the pill.
http://www.fwhc.org/birth-control/thepill.htm (this one is a good one esp.)

good luck. and stay responsible!!!! =]

yes, you can easily walk in and just fill out some paper work and they will send you with some birth control pills. you may have to pay for it though? i don't think you will have to do any check up or anything. call the clinic and ask how they do stuff if you want a better understanding. im pretty sure they will tell you.

No, you can't just get them without being seen by a gyn. Firstly, the pill isn't for everyone, and you need to make sure that you have no underlying health issues that would be worsened by the pill. To get the pill you need a prescription, it's not candy.
