I have a crappy squier with some pretty bad pickups. I can't hear the the G-B-e strings very well. I tried to raise the pickups but it still pretty quiet. What pickups are good to replace my stock ones? I don't want really expensive ones because it'll just cost as much as the guitar itself. I play rock solos like, led zeppelin, pink floyd, and some alt. rock, etc Thanks!

Seymour Duncans... Nice... but he said on a budget...

EMG humbuckers... in a Strat???

No... Unfortunately, changing the strings on a stock Squier isn't going to make the crummy pickups any better.

If you don't want to pay the $200.00 for a decent set of Fender pickups... What you need is a set of GFS pickups. Most people are very surprised at how good they sound for the money. Good reviews on Harmony Central and elsewhere. There are a few different models to choose from. Something might seem particularly suitable for the sound you're looking for. You can't really go too wrong compared to the stock Squier pickups... http://stores.ebay.com/Guitarfetish-Store_Pickups-for-Strat_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ14QQftidZ2QQtZkm

Maybe the vintage rock or overwound '70's?

Decent pickups can really make a huge difference. I think you'd be pleased with the improvement no matter what you choose.

Depending on which model of Squire you have there are a few pickups to choose. They range from $40.00 dollars on up.

You can save money by doing the work your self or you can have a luthier fix them. If you are interested, contact me for repair and give you a price.

Demarzios : The Rolls-Royce of guitar pickups. Get the ones that put out the bluesy wail sound and your problems all go away.

If you are using a very light gage string, the E,B & G will not put out much volume. Try the next gage heavery and see if you get improvement.
