Is the name Max ok on its own? We like Max, but not Maxwell, Maximillian, and do not want to go with my fathers name Maxime, since he doesn't like it and just goes by Max. It would have the same meaning.
Also, our other son is Timothy Marcel so they would be brothers, Tim and Max.

Max by itself is fine. My DH is named Joey. Not Joseph. Just Joey.
You will get people who assume that it is short for a longer name like Maxwell or Maxime, but who cares? Actually Max is listed in my baby book as a whole name which means "little maximus" so it is perfectly acceptable on it's own.

Or maybe Max could be short for Maddox or some other such name that you might actually like that contains the letters m, a, and x.

Also, people have been known to be called nicknames completely unrelated to their own name. I have a cousin who was always called Abby growing up b/c she favored a relative named Albert, and her name was Dora Elaine. Doesn't sound at all like Abby does it?

So best of luck, and keep on trying. You'll find the perfect name, I promise.

My dads name is Maxime and yeah he doesn't like it, he likes Max though and someone called their son max after him. I like the name Max. I think its a great name. The name max means 'The greatest; the most excellent'. One without equal. Its latin.

I say if you like the name max by itself then just keep it that. I dont get why people would make someones name a full name if they dont like it. My names katie- not katherine or katelyn or anything so i always have people ask me whats it short for. But i like the fact that my real name is the name i use. Also my sister is jenney- not jennifer. I say name your son what your going to call him by. Hoep all goes well :)

I must tell you I do like
MAXIMILIAN with MAX for nickname

but if you like the short version these names might flow well. If you put it only plain MAX it sounds like the name of a dog

MAX ADRIAN
DONOVAN MAX
ALEXANDER MAX
MAX AURELIUS
MAX JULIAN

good luck and tell your Dad Maxime is a great name

ya but you call him Tim and Max, so Tim has a longer name, and goes by the nickname of Tim, but poor Max is just Max, and nothing more, his nickname is know just his name.
