Well of course if it's stank, you don't want to be touching it with your bare hands. I'd suggest wearing protective gear, as well as gloves and a mask. You can never be too careful when handling such things, and there's just some smells you'd be better off not to have entering your lungs. Your first attempt at removing it should be slow. This way you can appear more skillful and knowledgeable about what you're doing. The more you remove, the more you can speed up, when you feel comfortable in doing so. If you take your time, and put the effort and energy into it that it deserves, the reward will be being able to lay your eyes upon those beautiful hardwood floors, running your hands over to feel the smooth surface, and smelling the sweet scent of the wood, especially after you take the time to rub and polish it to perfection. Lordy, I hope not. I remember that as the carpet with the paths! We got rid of ours in 1978!
