I do.... I have both. But, the landline is critical. Anybody that owns a home without one is taking a gamble. Here is why: 1) A landline, and not through a cable company, but through a phone company.... is available when the power is out. The Central office supplies a DC power of 48 volts using diesel generators. 2) Emergencies happen when the power is out. If you have no electricty, the local cell tower may not have it either. 3) Quality of connection. Cell phone connections absolutely suck. I hate talking to someone on them for more than a few minutes. They are always hard to hear. And, if both parties are on one, then just forget it. Worst quality ever. Strange how every new phone (I get a new cell every 2 years) is worse than the previous one. I miss the analog connections. At least they worked.

Yes. The standard telephone doesn't depend on the electric company for power. In the event of a major power failure, cell towers and voip won't work. My trusty home telephone will.

I prefer a land-line. Cell phones annoy me.
But I wonder why I keep paying the cell bill?
Hmmm.....

Yes I do. How quaint?! It's incredibly expensive and all I get for it is local calls and incoming calls. But I don't want to give everyone my cell phone number.
