In the first week of medical school, doctors are taught that a fracture takes six weeks to heal.
So, if you ask a doctor how long something (like a cast) will take, they will give you one of two answers:
1. Six weeks
2. Ask me again in six weeks

=o)~~~

Most broken bones require 6 weeks, however feet and ankles can take up to 8 weeks because you're not keeping them perfectly still (unless you're in a wheel chair you'll still be using it a bit even with a cast)

Usually just up to the base of the knee and it will stay on for 4 to 6 weeks unless they believe there will be any complications.

About 4 months or more, maybe a little less, depending on how badly you broke it.
