...my teacher would pass around "sticky hickeys" to his pupils. He dressed up as Mr. Hickey Man, did a stunt by flying on a helicopter, and dropped a dummy that resembled him off the roof.

Everybody laughed...

I wondered what happened to that teacher? Nowadays, students would sue him for being a pedophile.

Nowadays, nobody have no sense of humor. Even Saturday Night live isn't funny anymore. What happened to plain old unharmful fun?

Al Sharpton, happened. We have become so afraid of insulting groups, individuals etc. that basically our every day speech is censored. Now, everyone picks and chooses their words to avoid lawsuits and loss of employment. A teacher, especially, has to be so careful or they will find themselves in jail.
I'm a Southerner, born and bred. I am not a racist but have been a victim of racism ( I am Native American). I fly a confederate flag, below an American flag. A new family moved into our neighborhood. Next thing I knew the gentleman was at my door demanding I remove the Confederate flag. That it represented slavery and I was a racist. Once I stopped laughing I gave him the information to find out the history of the flag and what it really stands for. In essence he was accusing me of exactly what he was doing to me. Judging before he knew the facts. He threatened a lawsuit. Seems he found out I also had the right to freedom of speech.
He was offended by the flag. Oh well.
Special interest groups have been allowed to pressure our law makers into censoring what we say. That's where the humor has gone. Tell a Polish, Italian or God forbid, a black joke, you WILL face legal consequences. I'm not saying it is always appropriate, it isn't. However, other times it is protected by our constitutional rights.

Unharmful Fun was walking home alone late after a night of partying with strangers and being publically humorous and got mugged by Politically Correct and Oversensitive Lawsuit. While he survived the initial attack, the emotional damage resulting from the encounter caused him to retreat to only appearing at smaller, private funtions to only party with close friends and family members in the hopes that such an event would never repeat itself.

It's a sad fact, but a lot of Americans never did have a sense of humor to begin with. But the Canadians are still funny . . . why is that? A lot of their humor has nothing to do with hurting other people, either.
