I could swear I saw some guy in a #87 jersey skating against the Flyers. My eyes must be going bad or something. Oh, golly gee, yep, right here in the box score - an assist. Cough, the Next...cough, cough....The Next One. Yeah right.
Must have been easy pickings last year against a team in disarray. I was so looking forward to putting up a Penguins avatar and sing the praises of Ol' Sid. Maybe next game.

MIKE: The downward facing Eagle is supposed to indicate too much losing or as you say, their season. I'm trying to add flames behind the white feathers.

Gee Bill, looks like your eagle is going the wrong way there, is that supposed to symbolize the Eagles' season falling all the way down?

Did you expect him to do better than he did, and are you taking that "The Next One" media hype nickname seriously enough to use it as a measurement of how well he should do? I mean, he DID extend his consecutive point streak to fourteen games and I think LITY said he's averaging just over 1.5 points per game. Not only that---he's still catching up to Zetterberg in the scoring race. I'm flattered for Sid if you'd expect more out of him! :P
Alas, the win is most important, and the Pens didn't get the W.
I saw Sidney Crosby play the same as he always does; he was hard-working, passionate, and displayed his talent. On the otherhand, I also saw the Philadelphia Flyers do the very thing Crosby himself said would work best against him in an article from The Hockey News. They asked him what his opponents should do to beat him. He laughed and said he should lie, but then said in general terms that they should play physically against him. That is the very thing the Flyers did and I was IMPRESSED with the way they kept on him. My local FSN channel interviewed RJ Umberger between periods and he described it well, as he basically said the Flyers made sure to keep Crosby on the outside along the boards (can't allow him the space to make plays!) and got in the way of his passing/shooting lane as often as they could. I think they shut him down better than the Ottawa Senators did in the playoffs!
Anyone who thought the Flyers would be easy pickings for the Penguins this season is delusional. I never thought so... I mean, here I am 4 months ago in the offseason giving my kudos to the guy who got Best Answer for this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ave__9cQh0OtAumgrGcBNczty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070709073633AAO0rWK
I've also said here that while a sweep was nice last season, it's especially amazing to witness a rivalry like the Pens and Flyers have when they're on what's closer to a level-playing field. I would LOVE to see a Pens/Flyers series in the playoffs! Last time that happened, a game went to 5 OTs! My best friend is a Flyers fan, you know... I'd love to torment her after the Pens beat the Flyers in the EC Finals. Hehe.
Next game, indeed! ;)

And if Crosby was a Flyer(or whatever team you root for) you would be on the other side of the arguement. I'm a die-hard Penguins fan, and I'll give credit to any player in the league that deserves it. The last few years of Jagr's stay in Pittsburgh, I was not a fan because of his lazy style he established. Jagr would sit at the red line waiting for a pass and was slow on the defense. He only changed his last season in 01 because Lemieux drew attention away. See, I can be critical of my team's players as well (Fleury - not impressing me, hopefully the Turco rumors are true). Sidney is the best in the game and has been for the past 1 1/2 seasons.

Jealous much? He's twice the player of anyone Philly can put on the ice. Only 1 point? Not even Gretzy scored 2 points in every game he played. This kid is the reigning MVP, and is one of the top 5 players in the league, hands down. 1 game means little, he dominated you guys last year. He put up 6 points on you guys Dec. 13 of '06. Keep those eyes open, because he's going to torture the Flyers for years to come.
As for Ovechkin, yeah, he's great too, but he takes 150 more shots a year than Crosby does. He's the Kobe of the NHL, a puck hog. Rookie year: 13 more goals, and 9 fewer assists, beating Sid's point total by 4 (with 425 shots on goal to 278 - 147 difference). Second year: 10 more goals and 38! fewer assists, Sid with 28 more points and leading the league (shots on goal - Ov 392, Sid 250 - a difference of 142). Shooting percenting? Ov 12.2 and 11.7 his first two years, Sid 14.0 both years. This year - Ov 12.0 and Sid 25.0 with Sid having 6 more points. That's why Sid is better.

14 straight with a point though so it is not as though he has fallen off the face of the earth.
Good to see the Flyers win this one. I will be at Saturday's game. Great seats too (pending me winning a bid).
